Özet:
İnsanoğlu var olduğundan itibaren doğası gereği korunma içgüdüsüne sahip olmuştur. Bu sebeple ilk çağlardan beri insan, ailesini ve yiyeceğini korumak için barındığı mekanın etrafını duvarlarla örmüş, daha sonrada birlikte yaşadığı diğer insan topluluklarıyla yerleşim alanları kurmuş ve güvenlikleri için bu mekanların etraflarını surlar ile çevirip, tarihte ilk kaleleri oluşturmuştur. Tarihsel süreç içerisinde çeşitli kültürlere ev sahipliği yapan İzmir, jeopolitik konumu ile Antik çağlardan günümüze kadar önemini korumuştur. Sahip olduğu bu jeopolitik avantaj ve limanları sebebi ile kesintisiz bir yerleşime sahne olmuştur. Anadolu’da değişen siyasi dengelere bağlı olarak artan nüfus ve deniz ticareti, savunmayı daha önemli hale getirmiş, buna paralel olarak Helenistik Dönemde ilk şehir surları inşa edilmeye başlanmış ve belli noktalarda güvenli garnizon alanlar yaratmaya yönelik savunma hatları oluşturulmuştur. Kalelerin inşa ve onarımına sırasıyla Roma, Bizans, Beylikler ve Osmanlı Dönemlerinde devam edilmiş ve şehir, savunma mimarisinin her dönem özelliklerini ortaya koyan aynı zamanda tarihsel süreç içerisinde kazandığı gelişim çizgisini yansıtan yapılarını bünyesine dâhil etmiştir. Laskarisler dönemine ait bir kale olan İzmir Keçi kalesi konumlanışı ve mimari planlaması açısından dönemin ve bölgenin özelliklerini yansıtması açsından önem teşkil etmektedir.

Abstract:
Humankind has had instinct of protection by its very nature since his existence. Therefore, human has put up a wall around his shelter since the first ages to protect his family and food, then with the other human communities they lived together founded settlements and by ramparting these settlements for their protection they built the first castles. Which is home to a variety of cultures in the historical process in Izmir, it has maintained its importance from ancient times to the present day with its geopolitical position. Its that has been the scene of continuous settlement with the geopolitical advantages and harbors reason. Changing political increasing population and maritime trade, depending on the balance in Anatolia, the defense has made it more important, in parallel, began to be built the first city walls of the Hellenistic and defensive lines aimed at creating a secure garrison areas at certain points have been established. Construction of the castle and repairs to the Roman, Byzantine, Emirates and was continued in the Ottoman Period and cities, demonstrating the all period features of the defense architecture but also have included the construction of the structure reflects the gains that line of development in the historical process. Laskaris of the period with a castle Kecı Izmir positioning and architecture of the period in terms of planning and reflect the characteristics of the very important.
